I really have no definition for what kind of blog I want this to be aside from a blog filled with stuff I love.  Pretty stuff I love!

I have found that along the way it is becoming full of fashion, design and DIY craft inspiration that I find along with a random mix of things.  That works for me.  Today it is going to be filled with reflection.  See, this is my blog and I am making it up as I go along.  I love that people may want to read what I write, that people my be inspired by things I say, do or share and that as I fake being crafty, I may inspire you as well.

Which leads me to my inspiration.  My family.  I have always been very close to my family, including my extended family.  I am blessed and wouldn’t have it any other way.  And now I have a little family all of my own.  My husband, my daughter, two dogs and a cat.  And I have been a mother for almost a year.  Yes, that is right, next week my baby girl turns one.

It seems like just yesterday she looked like this:

Today she is a vibrant girl who never stops.  She never stops smiling, laughing, talking, moving and loving every second.  She lights up my heart with a smile and her laugh is music to my ears.

I love you baby girl.   Keep on doing what you do best and enjoy every second!

Hello my pretties.  Sorry if posting is currently sporadic.  We are dealing with one sick baby and it looks like Momma and Papa might be coming down with it as well.  Not to mention we are less than two weeks away from baby girl’s first birthday.  And the day after her birthday is her big party.  Lots of preparation underway.

Among all of this craziness though, I have continued my quest of finding pretty.  Next on my list.

I am going to turn this

into this

Thanks to the The Idea Room for the great inspiration!  Stay tuned to see how I do!

I Have a Voice?

Hiya pretties!  I am glad to see you swung by again.  Great to see you, won’t you stay a while?

I started this blog not really knowing what direction it would head, but I figured it would be a place where I would link up to all of the things I love but can’t afford, want to wear but can’t fit into, or want to create but am not talented enough for.  It ended up inspiring me to try new things in my life and for that I am so glad I took the first step.

My husband made a comment to me that got me thinking.  He told me that he really liked that I found my voice on my blog.  I gave him a Scooby Doo “Huhr?” and confusion set it.  What voice?  I am just me.  I don’t have a voice, I just write.  And not particularly well at that.  I didn’t give it anymore thought that day.

Then, for some reason the next day I had a light bulb moment.  I was right.  I don’t have a voice.  I have several voices.

I have the voice of a mother.  I have a beautiful baby girl.  She is growing far too fast and will be a year old early next month.  From the moment I knew she existed she has meant everything to me.  I would do anything for her and there is nothing that I enjoy more than being her mother.  She lights up my heart with her smiles and her laugh literally makes me giddy and makes me heart melt.  Her achievements make me so proud.  Life before her was just a warm up.  My real life started the day she was born.

I have the voice of a wife.  I am one of the lucky ones who married my high school sweetheart.  More than thirteen years later we have a beautiful family and home together.  We have our daughter, two dogs and a cat.  We do everything together.  For several years, we even worked together and drove in to work and ate lunch together every day.  To some (O.K. to many) that may just seem sick, but to us, it is perfectly normal.  We are happiest when we are together and enjoy doing many of the same things.  My husband is my support system and my rock.  He makes me laugh and is there for me when I need him.  When I am sick he is right by my side.  He is by far the best father I have ever seen.  He is patient with me and understanding.  He is my everything and I love him so much.

I have the voice of someone who is strong willed but weak in self control.  I love sugar sometimes more than I love myself.

I have the voice of someone who speaks their mind without fear of consequences.  I must say sometimes this is a great thing.  Sometimes not so much.

I have the voice of a daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, friend, college graduate, animal lover, full time working mom.  The list goes on and on.

What’s your voice?

You are all about to love me.  So now that I am faking crafty, I am on the hunt for some furniture pieces on the cheap.  A dresser, and some dining room chairs that I could repaint and cover in some fun fabric are at the top of my list.

Then I learned something that changed my life.  When you are hunting on craigslist mainly by pictures, there is a great way to do it.  It sounds complicated and I can’t understand how it works, but it only takes a minute to do and then you can view all pictures on one page and click for more info if you want.

How you ask? Craigseasy.com!

Two simple steps.

1-Get the easy button. Drag and drop the “easy” button into your bookmarks bar.

2-Use it!  SEARCH Craigslist® or your favorite classifieds website, THEN hit the bookmarklet.

Check it out with a video tutorial (if you need it) at Craigseasy.com

There you have it.  Craigslist made easy!

Now those of you in my area, don’t go snatching up the great furniture now that you know this gem of a tip!

Hello my pretties!  I made a new blog header.  What do you think?  I think I am still loving the Quatrefoil!  I am glad to see so many of you tuned in for my tutorial on my basement bench cushions.

Maybe I will post a tutorial on some of my other projects.  Maybe the custom art for Lily’s room, the hair clips I made, or I can post one when I make my pillows to match the cushions.  I am considering posting a picture of my crazy out of control pantry to force myself to take the first step and admit that it is out of control.  I am kind of on a roll.

Stay tuned to see what will be next!

Hello my pretties!  I hope you have been well.  I am so excited to share with you the updates in my basement.  In the corner of my basement there are built in benches that have been screaming for attention.  I set to work with a plan and enlisted my husband and dogs to help out.  And now I shall reveal the results and give a brief tutorial.

First the boring, cluttered before.  Notice the back shelf filled with all kinds of junk?
